Choose your border

Is concrete curbing right for your yard?

Compare the look you want, your budget and whether you expect to change the bed layout later.

Other edging options

  • Plastic can suit a smaller materials budget
  • Metal gives a narrow, understated bed line
  • Individual pavers give a segmented border
  • A cut soil edge is easy to change but needs recutting
Our install

Poured concrete curbing

  • Poured on site to follow the planned bed line
  • Plain, colored and stamped finish options
  • A defined edge to help contain rock and mulch
  • Best planned around a layout you want to keep

Concrete is harder to relocate than individual edging pieces and can crack. No border eliminates all weeds or bed maintenance. See our edging comparison and quote guide for the tradeoffs.

Plan your project

What affects a concrete curbing quote?

Start with the length of the bed edge, then the profile, color and stamp you prefer. Old edging removal, ground preparation, slopes and access can change the work involved. Adding rock, plants or lighting makes it a different scope from a border-only job.

Send your starting point

New add-on

Light up your curb at night

Add LED lighting to your new curbing and the whole bed glows after dark. Tap a color to see it on one of our real installs.

  • Mounted on the back of the curb, facing the house, so you see the glow and not the strip
  • Plugs into a regular outdoor outlet, no battery packs to swap
  • Remote included: any color, or warm white for a classic landscape lighting look
  • Orange and purple for Halloween, red and green for Christmas
  • Installed a day or two after your curb is poured, once the concrete cures

Priced per foot

Questions

Common questions

Who installs decorative concrete curbing in the Manhattan area?

Above the Lawn Services, founded by Jake Bogda, installs poured concrete landscape curbing in Manhattan, New Lenox, Frankfort and Mokena, Illinois. Jake reviews your beds, finish and project scope at a free on-site quote visit. Call (815) 520-2558 or use the form below.

How much does concrete curbing cost?

We quote after measuring your bed edges. Footage, profile, color, stamping, access and removal or preparation work affect the total. Rock, plants, mulch and LED lighting add to the scope. We do not publish a fixed rate for every yard; our cost guide explains what to compare before booking. Read the cost guide

What styles and colors can I get?

Plain gray, colored, or stamped and colored. The projects on this page show a smooth tan curb with a semi-gloss sealer and a stamped, colored curb. We will go over the options with you at the quote.

Is concrete a better choice than plastic or metal edging?

Concrete is a good fit when you want a decorative border poured to match an established bed layout. Plastic can suit a smaller budget and metal gives a narrow, understated edge. A poured border is harder to relocate if you change the bed, and concrete can crack. Choose for the appearance, installed cost and future plans for your yard.

Will concrete curbing crack?

It can. Control joints help manage cracking, but they do not guarantee a crack-free curb. Ground movement, temperature, moisture and curing all matter. We review the installation and care instructions with you; a concrete border still needs care.

How long does it take?

Timing depends on footage, preparation, weather and whether the project also includes rock or plants. Jake confirms the schedule for your yard. The concrete also needs curing time, so follow the crew's instructions before walking or using equipment beside it.

Can you redo the whole bed at the same time?

Yes. The projects on this page show curbing combined with bed renovation, stone and planting. Tell Jake whether you want a border around existing landscaping or a full bed makeover so the quote covers the right work.

Can you add lights to the curbing?

Yes. We mount a low-profile LED strip on the back of the curb, on the side that faces your house, so the glow lights up the bed and you do not see the strip from the street. It plugs into an outdoor outlet and comes with a remote, so you can pick any color or a warm white. Lighting is priced per foot and added to your curbing quote.

What areas do you serve?

We are based in Manhattan, IL and install curbing in Manhattan, New Lenox, Frankfort and Mokena.
